My role

As the lead, I oversaw the end-to-end creation of the app, from conceptualization to final screens and component libraries, while also managing an outsourced development team.

Goals

Context

"The project had a significant feasibility constraint due to a limited budget, requiring the entire app to run on top of a legacy e-commerce platform. This limitation meant we were unable to use a more modern stack for development, which forced us to adhere to some existing desktop flows for the mobile app. Our challenge was to maintain the same flow while still providing an optimal user experience.


Leveraging my experience working on low-budget projects with technology constraints, our team remained highly focused on crafting simple and creative solutions that could benefit both our client and their users.

Subscription feature

The app provides users with multiple options to start a subscription plan. They can opt-in from the product detail page, checkout page, or even initiate a new subscription from the subscription page.


If the user starts the subscription from the checkout page, they will only need to complete four simple steps. Our goal was to ensure that the process was as straightforward as possible. The only variation from a typical checkout process is the addition of a page for subscription recurrence.

Component library

For ensuring a high level of consistency, we have categorized all the tokens and components which helps designers and engineers to work in sync.

Low budget doesn't mean poor delivery

Despite significant time and budget constraints, our team successfully delivered a high-quality product that was ready for development. We conducted thorough checks of all interactions and flows to ensure a seamless user experience.


Even after the hand-off, we continue to collaborate with the company responsible for app development on a weekly basis to ensure that all implementations align with the original design.
